Our Story, Your Future

Our Story

Imagine a small local Disability & Mental Health Service that leads the Nation in sustainability. We did, and that is why Kith and Kin were invited to talk at the National ACOSS Conference.

Imagine people with a disability, and people with a mental illness supporting the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. We did and those people supported costume productions for the concert Cinderella.

Kith & Kin meaning Friends and Family was established in Townsville in 1981 by a group of parents who could not find the kind of support needed for their children with a disability. These parents banded together and with community support, formed a voluntary minding group for children. These children had severe intellectual disabilities and struggled to access other services often due to the challenging nature of their disability.

Kith & Kin have evolved and innovated to become the diverse service it is today, providing suitable and sustainable all abilities and better mental health support.
Kith & Kin offer a diverse range of opportunities for people with Psychiatric, Physical and Intellectual disabilities.

Your Future

Imagine what you can do with NDIS funding and support. Whatever it is, we will help you make it happen. We support choice and decision-making by involving family and friends in planning for your future.

Don’t have your NDIS plan yet? You don’t have to do this alone. We can guide you through the application process and once your plan is approved, provide you with a range of services to meet your needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your future is as important to us as it is to you…
