Imagine a small local Disability & Mental Health Service that leads the Nation in sustainability. We did, and that is why Kith and Kin were invited to talk at the National ACOSS Conference.
Imagine people with a disability, and people with a mental illness supporting the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. We did and those people supported costume productions for the concert Cinderella.
Kith & Kin meaning Friends and Family was established in Townsville in 1981 by a group of parents who could not find the kind of support needed for their children with a disability. These parents banded together and with community support, formed a voluntary minding group for children. These children had severe intellectual disabilities and struggled to access other services often due to the challenging nature of their disability.
Kith & Kin have evolved and innovated to become the diverse service it is today, providing suitable and sustainable all abilities and better mental health support.
Kith & Kin offer a diverse range of opportunities for people with Psychiatric, Physical and Intellectual disabilities.
